Northwest Airlines will donate $1 million to The Nature Conservancy

"At the request of NWA's corporate and individual customers," to protect land in the Mississippi River Valley and to "sequester and store carbon." The donation is part of the carrier's EarthCares program, which encompasses other environmental initiatives and will include a means for passengers to offset the carbon emissions from their flights and make their own donations.
