Delta Air Lines reported a first-quarter net loss of $6.4 billion
, including a $6.1 billion "non-cash goodwill impairment charge from the decline in Delta's market capitalization due to sustained record fuel prices." Excluding special items, the net loss of $274 million grew from a net loss of $6 million a year earlier. Passenger revenue jumped 10 percent to just over $3 billion, driven by a 6 percent yield improvement and a 4 percent increase in traffic.
