American Airlines and Southwest Airlines reported fourth-quarter and full-year 2006 net profits
. For American, full-year net income of $231 million represented the first yearly profit since 2000. For Southwest, 2006 net income of $499 million--slightly higher than in 2005--marked the 34th consecutive year of profitability. Southwest reported record revenues of $9.1 billion and an average passenger fare of $104.40, up 11 percent from 2005.
