The U.S. Government Accountability Office told Congress the Defense Travel System
, an automated end-to-end managed travel program being implemented by the U.S. Department of Defense, has produced lower-than-expected utilization rates and other challenges including failure to properly test flight information interfaces for DOD travelers. GAO also called "highly questionable" the project's anticipated net annual estimated savings of $56 million. GAO made specific recommendations covering management fee structures, utilization reporting and inconsistencies in DTS requirements, and said DOD concurred or partially concurred with each.
