Qantas has "suspended A380 take-offs" following an "engine issue" with one of the carrier's giant aircraft
. A Qantas Airbus A380 flying between Singapore and Sydney returned to Singapore and landed safely following the engine problem, according to the Australian carrier. Media reports indicated that part of the engine's cover had broken loose during the flight. Chief executive Alan Joyce said Qantas would "suspend A380 services until we are confident that Qantas safety requirements have been met." The airline said it would accommodate displaced passenger on alternative flights.
