Lufthansa Group reported a first half net profit of €992 million (US$1.3 billion)
, including a €503 million (US$678 million) gain from the sale of its stake in Thomas Cook. Driven by a record 27 million passengers, passenger revenue increased 4 percent to €7.7 billion (US$10.4 billion).
