Members of the U.K. Guild of Travel Management Companies collectively processed 3 percent fewer first-quarter air transactions than in the year-earlier period.

Rail transactions were down 11 percent. GTMC indicated that it has found "clear evidence that business growth and business travel are intricately linked," and that as British companies generally "have become less profitable over the course of the last two years, air transactions have trended down."
