Employee business travel produced 36,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions for software maker Autodesk in 2007, representing 5.6 metric tons per employee and totaling 56 percent of the company's carbon footprint
, according to its sustainability report. "Although employee air travel is vital to our business, it is Autodesk’s largest single source of greenhouse gas emissions," the company wrote, also noting that employees flew about 175 million miles for business last year. Autodesk is working "to set a companywide greenhouse gas reduction goal, normalized to account for future growth, as well as goals for specific aspects of our carbon footprint such as employee travel and facilities energy use."
