The National Business Travel Association and the Association of Corporate Travel Executives weighed in on maintenance-related aircraft groundings
. NBTA called on the Department of Transportation Inspector General to "quickly complete a thorough investigation into the cause of the recent breakdowns in the inspection audit process that led to the cancellations of so many flights." NBTA also said Congress should "continue its oversight role." Recent maintenance-related cancellations have caused frustration for travelers, "cost American businesses untold dollars in lost productivity and lost business" and "further rattled confidence in the U.S. aviation system," NBTA said. Meanwhile, ACTE said 62 percent of respondents to a survey "are presently considering adding a stipulation to their airline agreements certifying that a carrier is in compliance with FAA air worthiness directives."
