The Association of Corporate Travel Executives launched a new foundation for research and education
that spreads funding among all constituents, rather than relying mostly on suppliers. According to ACTE executive director Susan Gurley, "Suppliers must build their contributions to associations like ACTE into their rates. In the end, the corporate consumer is paying a portion of these costs anyway." Called the Global Centre for Research and Education, the new organization is chaired by TRX executive vice president Susan Hopley, who runs the executive committee with Gurley and HRG group industry affairs director Mike Platt. The Board of Directors is comprised of officials from Boeing, British Airways, Citigroup, Tata Group and the University of Sheffield. The Centre's first research project, spearheaded by the university, will explore the impact of climate change.
