EGlobalfares announced a deal with Western Union Business Solutions for "a new online global payment solution for the international travel" market and named Western Union its "exclusive foreign exchange payment provider."
According to eGlobalfares president and CEO Dave Rifkin, the company "can now provide our clients with the advantage of knowing, during the booking process, what a ticket price is going to cost them in their local currency and they no longer need to wait for a bank or another entity to provide a quote after the purchase is completed." The "Payment Gateway" service enables clients to pay online for airline tickets "from their bank account in their local currency using local wire, Automated Clearing House or direct debit," according to an eGlobalfares statement. Payment Gateway is available in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, New Zealand, Singapore, the United Kingdom, the United States and other countries where Western Union provides foreign exchange services.
