Travelport confirmed that HRG signed a "global
agreement" for use of its Universal API, which would enable the travel
management company to access "additional content from low-cost carriers
and high-speed rail providers as a complement to core GDS content."
Travelport currently is globally rolling out the application
programming interface. It is built to aggregate content from Apollo, Galileo
and Worldspan, as well as Sprice for hotel content and Travelport's air and
rail content hubs, including feeds from the likes of easyJet and Deutsche Bahn,
respectively.
Travelport in November announced that the API also would be
used to access Southwest Airlines content.
According to a statement attributed to Hogg Robinson Group
distribution and technology director Bill Brindle, "By coding to one
single solution instead of multiple APIs, HRG has quickly gained easy access to
extensive new content."
