Shell Oil Company in the United States this year switched its travel management company to Carlson Wagonlit Travel
as part of a global strategy to consolidate travel vendors. Reservations and online fulfillment are handled by the TMC's Ottawa call center. The Shell Group--with 109,000 employees in 140 countries--already uses CWT in the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, with plans for gradual implementation in as many as 25 countries, according to Shell U.S. travel services manager Debra Reid. Shell now uses the Citibank corporate payment system globally and late last year completed global airline agreements, Reid said, noting that the KDS self-booking tool now in use in Europe soon would be further rolled out to U.S. travelers.
