Latam Airlines Group has reached an agreement with Airbus to buy 28 new A320neo family aircraft, adding on to a previous agreement to acquire 42 narrow-body aircraft from Airbus. The agreement, subject to court approval as the group works to exit Chapter 11 reorganization, is a part of the group's fleet modernization plans and, as they are 20 percent more fuel-efficient, "is a sign of the commitment we have made with the transformation towards a carbon-neutral Latam in 2050," according to Latam CEO Roberto Alvo. "We will continue working responsibly to exit Chapter 11 with a fleet that accompanies the group's new challenges."
