Delta Air Lines expects to resume normal
operations Wednesday afternoon following a systemwide operations shutdown
caused by a power outage early Monday. The carrier reports technology systems
are working normally, but it still had to cancel another 255 flights Wednesday and
was seeing some delays in the morning due to flight crewmembers who were displaced
or running out of allowable work hours. About 80 percent of noncanceled flights
departed within 30 minutes of their scheduled times Wednesday morning. Delta
canceled about 800 flights Tuesday and about 1,000 flights Monday as it
recovered from the outage. The carrier also has extended its travel waiver for
free rebooking to cover Wednesday flights.
