The FAA has issued a single operating certificate for Alaska
Airlines and Virgin America, marking the official end of Virgin America as an
individual airline. The major passenger-facing merger milestone, though,
remains a few months down the road. Alaska said passengers will not see
"any immediate differences," as both the Alaska and Virgin America
websites and mobile apps will continue to operate separately until the carriers
merge into a single reservations system in late April.
