Air Canada's passenger revenue hit a quarterly record of 3.49 billion Canadian dollars in the first quarter, up 11.8 percent year over year, as the carrier reported significant growth in traffic and premium business. Business cabin revenue rose 13.8 percent. Traffic increased 11.4
percent as capacity rose 8.6 percent, and load factor went up 2.1 percentage points to 82.2 percent. Yield increased 0.4 percent year over year. The carrier reported a net loss of 170 million Canadian dollars for the quarter, compared with a 13 million loss in the first quarter of 2017. Losses related to foreign
exchange rates totaled 112 million Canadian dollars compared with gains of 70 million Canadian dollars a year prior.
