Anant Patel has joined payment firm Wex's London office as managing director of Europe. The position had been left vacant by the departure of Myles Stephenson, a spokesperson said; he left Wex in October 2015, according to his LinkedIn profile. Patel joins from First Performance Global where he was managing director of EMEA. He will report to Jim Pratt, who heads Wex's global enterprise payments business. Patel has more than 17 years of payment leadership experience and is tasked with scaling Wex's operations in the region. Wex also named Clare Murphy European director of sales, and she will report to Patel. Murphy was previously Travelport global sales director of payment solutions. The changes follow Wex's consolidation of several businesses and the December promotion of Jay Dearborn from VP of strategy to the new position of corporate payments president in December.
