The United Kingdom plans to empower police to seize passports at its borders and put stronger controls around aviation security compliance,
Prime Minister David Cameron said in a recent statement to the House of Commons. Cameron said the nation plans "specific and targeted legislation" giving police the power to seize passports at the border and allow them time to investigate suspicious individuals, beyond their current "only limited stop-and-search powers." The British government also plans to put "long-standing arrangements on aviation security around the world on a statutory footing," including compliance with no-fly lists, access to passenger lists and compliance with security screening requirements, Cameron said.
