International airfares paid by corporate travelers from the
U.S. to Europe and between destinations outside of the U.S. are up by
double-digit percentages this summer, according to SAP Concur analysis of
bookings through Concur Travel.
The average air ticket from the U.S. to Europe booked
through Concur Travel in July was $4,086, up 14 percent from July 2019. Concur
noted that, compared with February, when the war in Ukraine began, the July
average price was up 6 percent. In 2019, the average ticket cost in July was
down 1 percent from February.
The increase was starker on international flights between
destinations outside of the U.S., with an average cost of $790, up 22 percent
compared with 2019. That is a 31 percent increase from February, compared with
a 5 percent increase over the February-to-July period in 2019.
U.S. domestic airfares are running closer to 2019 levels,
with an average ticket cost of $532 in July, up 7 percent from 2019 levels.
However, the increase from this February was 20 percent, compared with a 2
percent increase over the same period in 2019.
