Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide reported second-quarter net income of $145 million
, versus $680 million a year earlier. Excluding special items, net income was $178 million, ahead of last year's $169 million net result. Total company revenues increased 4.5 percent to $1.57 billion and systemwide average daily rate increased 8 percent to $172.81.
