Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. reported first-quarter net income of $32 million
. Including a $47 million tax charge on discontinued operations, the result compared to a $122 million net profit from a year earlier. Total revenue increased 2.5 percent to $1.47 billion. Average daily rates rose by at least 7 percent across all the company's major brands, including Sheraton (9.3 percent) and Westin (8 percent).
