Hyatt Hotels Corp. reported third-quarter net income of $30 million
, up from a $5 million a year earlier. "Occupancy increased in over 75 percent of hotels around the world, and average daily rates at full-service hotels increased on a global basis," said CEO Mark Hoplamazian. "In North America, we saw a shift in business mix, from lower-rated transient to higher-rated transient business and an increase in group demand." Average daily rate increased 3.9 percent year over year at comparable systemwide hotels, and occupancy increased 4.5 percentage points to 71.6 percent, combining for a 10.9 percent increase in revenue per available room.
