Coupa launched an optional feature within its app on Thursday that uses a smartphone’s GPS to track expenses.

SmarterTrip allows Coupa to monitor a traveler’s mileage and create an expense item. It also recognizes a traveler’s location and, if it doesn’t detect a corporate card purchase, prompts the user to record a business expense. “Coupa wants people to be aware of their spending as it happens. This helps folks keep a better tab on what they’re expensing every day to make sure they’re staying in line with corporate policies,” a spokesperson told BTN in an email. This feature follows Coupa's March launch of voice capture for receipts.
