Amtrak reported record passenger numbers for fiscal year 2007
Rail operator , which ended Sept. 30. Total ridership exceeded 25.8 million and total ticket revenue jumped 11 percent year-over-year to reach $1.5 billion. Factors cited by Amtrak officials included highway and airspace congestion, fuel prices and environmental awareness. In the business-focused Northeast corridor, passenger count and revenue for Acela Express increased 20 percent and 23 percent, respectively.
