American Airlines launched several new fare bundles,

including the lowest-cost Choice fare, which includes a "pre-reserved seat" and standard frequent-flyer mileage accumulation, and the higher-tier Choice Plus, which includes a free checked bag, group-one boarding, no change fees, same-day flight changes, same-day standby options, mileage maximization and an on-board cocktail. Between Choice and Choice Plus is Choice Essential, which in addition to standard Choice benefits includes one free checked bag, group-one boarding and no change fees. Fare bundles also include "fully flexible" and business/first class. The fare bundles were launched with a new shopping display on AA.com. As part of the changes, AA last week discontinued its Boarding and Flexibility Package, a post-purchase add-on that included same-day standby, priority boarding and reduced change fees. Purchasers of AA economy fares still can add through AA.com a la carte options, including same-day flight changes, preferred seating options and group-one boarding.
