Uniglobe indicated the tool provides to its
travel management company members "greater access to market-specific
airfares, special Uniglobe vendor relationships, non-published fares and
low-cost carrier content—all in one portal." According to Uniglobe vice
president of global operations Amanda Close, the "fully customizable
tool" also processes payments in local currencies and "enables TMCs
to develop unique, highly secure platforms through which to collaborate on
multinational corporate travel accounts." EGlobalfares in March struck a
similar deal with agency network GlobalStar Travel Management to offer
participating agency members a global database including net and negotiated rates
provided by fellow members, consolidator fares sourced by eGlobalfares and
other content. The TMC tech provider in June announced
a deal with Western Union Business Solutions for "a new online global payment solution for the
international travel" market and named Western Union its "exclusive
foreign exchange payment provider."
