U.S. travel agencies in June processed 3.9 percent fewer total air transactions than they did a year earlier,
marking the fourth month in the first half of 2013 to show such a decline. Domestic transactions slid 4.9 percent year over year while international transactions dropped 1.4 percent. Total agency air sales in June were down 1.4 percent, excluding refunds and exchanges, as total fare sales retreated 2.1 percent, offsetting a 4.3 percent increase in airline fees. Through June, U.S. travel agencies in 2013 have processed $46.1 billion in airline ticket sales, down 0.7 percent year over year.
