Travelport launched "an enhanced version" of its Agencia product that provides Canadian agents full access to Air Canada's fares and inventory.
The new version generally improves integration with Travelport's Apollo global distribution system and includes features related to passenger name record creation, file finishing, airfare shopping and other functions. An Air Canada official in January told The Beat that the upgrade stemmed from a 2010 update to the Air Canada-Travelport distribution agreement. "This agreement is completely consistent with the way Travelport is looking to partner with all airlines on merchandizing, optional ancillary sales and product differentiation," according to Travelport Americas president Derek Sharp. "We have the capability to achieve full content for all subscribers, merchandizing Air Canada's full line of products and services through application programming interfaces and there is no bypass of either the GDS or of our travel agency partners."
