The three major global distribution system operators reported year-over-year growth in worldwide booking volumes for the three months ending Sept. 30,
according to their respective financial reports, which highlight slightly different booking metrics. Sabre indicated third-quarter GDS bookings rose about 3 percent, with air bookings up 3.5 percent and non-air bookings up 0.8 percent. Amadeus reported a 5.8 percent rise in travel agency bookings, led by a 6.1 percent increase in airline transactions. Meanwhile, Travelport reported total agency segments, including air, car and hotel, were up 2 percent year over year, with airline tickets sales also up 2 percent year over year.
