Sabre "signed a multiyear agreement" with Alitalia to sell pre-paid baggage and airport lounge access through its global distribution system.

Those ancillaries now are available for sale via Sabre-connected agents in Italy, with plans to expand to subscribers in Belgium, Spain, the United Kingdom and other European markets, according to Sabre. The GDS operator noted that Alitalia "has chosen to sell its ancillaries through the Sabre marketplace using industry technology standards developed by the Airline Tariff Publishing Company and the International Air Transport Association," and that the carrier is expected to sell additional ancillary services through the GDS channel.
