a web-based tool meant to help
track unmanaged business travel. Through the partnership, Hickory travel agency members can access "a free, co-branded TripScanner website to enroll customers," according to a company statement. Each enrolled customer is provided an email address to which travelers can send information on "open-source bookings." According to a statement by Hickory president Chris Dane, the new deal "will help our agency membership address the challenge of leakage, providing greater visibility and control to their corporate clients." Hickory also noted that TripScanner monitors off-channel bookings to determine potential policy violations, provides "real-time reports" for traveler tracking purposes, uses "several online travel search engines" to look for prices cheaper than what had initially been booked and alerts travelers and travel arrangers when better deals are found.
