Amadeus for 2012 claimed "a very significant market share gain of 0.9 percentage points" for global travel agency air bookings,
to 38.6 percent. For the fourth quarter, the company claimed a 1 percentage point share increase versus a year earlier, to 40.2 percent. Total Amadeus agency air bookings during the full year increased 3.5 percent globally, "despite the weak industry," with the largest year-over-year gains experienced in the Middle East/Africa region (13.2 percent) and Latin America (9.1 percent). North America saw a 7.8 percent increase while Western Europe's volume fell by 1 percent. Non-air bookings decreased slightly, "driven by a decrease in rail bookings." The company's full-year distribution revenue grew 5.8 percent to €2.2 billion while IT revenue jumped 13 percent to €709 million. Amadeus' adjusted profit for full-year 2012 increased 18 percent to €575 million. Overall net profit for the year fell by about a third to €501.6 million and for the December quarter decreased to €69.9 million from €75.5 million in the year-earlier period.
