Distribution
Amadeus announced that United Airlines signed a distribution deal extension "into 2013"
that commits the carrier and subsidiary
Continental Airlines to provide Amadeus-connected agencies access to its
"full range of content." That content by mid-2012 will include U.S.
travel agencies' ability to book United Economy Plus seating, according to
Amadeus. Amadeus senior vice president Scott Alvis indicated that the company
would work to allow United to "sell future products and services via the
agency channel according to their strategy." Sabre in February 2009 and
Travelport in August 2011 announced their global distribution systems had
enabled agencies to sell United Economy Plus.
