Agency Ticket Sales Down 2.2% For October
United States-based travel agencies sold $7.3 billion in airline tickets in October, down 2.2 percent year over year, according to Airlines Reporting Corp. For January through October 2015, sales through agencies declined 1.4 percent to $77 billion while transactions increased 5.8 percent, which indicates decreasing fares. Sales of Electronic Miscellaneous Documents, which include fees for such products and services as upgrades and checked bags, accounted for $14.3 million of sales for those 10 months, compared with $2.5 million in the first 10 months of 2014, hinting at increased adoption.
