Several U.S. states petitioned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to adopt "global warming regulations for aircraft

Attorneys general from California, Connecticut, New Jersey, New Mexico and the District of Columbia; Pennsylvania's Department of Environmental Protection; the city of New York; and the South Coast Air Quality Management District asked EPA "to undertake a rule-making procedure under the Clean Air Act" that would "ultimately limit emissions from all aircraft arriving or departing from U.S. airports."
