Rates at Marriott International properties increased by 3.3 percent year over year globally during the second quarter of 2011
. Rates were up by 3.1 percent in North America and by 5.8 percent in the rest of the world. Occupancy increased by 2.1 percentage points globally to reach 72.4 percent, and in North America it increased 2.4 percentage points to 72.8 percent. Global revenue per available room was up 6.7 percent globally and by 6.6 percent in North America. Net income for the quarter was $135 million, up 13 percent from net income in the second quarter of 2010.
