British Airways said security-related disruptions last month in London cost it roughly £40 million
($76 million) in lost revenue and increased costs. The airline said the foiled plot to bomb airplanes en route to the United States prompted 1,280 flight cancellations and caused "some impact on forward bookings ... the recovery of premium and non-premium transfer traffic, for example, is lagging due to the limitations on carry-on baggage at London." Continental Airlines said its estimated August unit revenues "were negatively impacted by approximately 1.5 points due to the elevated security concerns during the month."
