Air France, Lufthansa, Thai Airways and Virgin America each announced new fuel surcharges
In a seemingly unending series of airline announcements regarding measures to offset jet fuel costs, . In the United States, Virgin America will impose new fees "in all of its markets, effective immediately," including $10 charges for shorter flights and $25 for longer ones. In Europe, Lufthansa raised by €10(US$15.55)--to €92 (US$143.09)--the surcharge on long-haul flight segments and by €3 (US$4.76)--to €24 (US$37.33)--the charge on German and intra-Europe flight segments, effective 16 June. Effective 13 June, Air France fuel surcharges will increase between €2 (US$3.11) and €20 (US$31.11) per segment, based on flight distance.
