WestJet's revenue increased 6.9 percent year over year to 1.19 billion Canadian dollars in the first quarter. Traffic rose 6.5 percent as capacity increased 4.3 percent, pushing load factor up 1.8 percentage points to 84.8 percent. Yield rose 0.3 percent. Net earnings, however, declined 20.4 percent to $37.2 million Canadian dollars. Fuel costs per liter were up 14.1 percent.
