Business Travel News
parent company Northstar Travel Media, the world's largest business-to-business
media company serving the travel and meetings industries, has acquired
ProMedia.travel, publisher of The Beat,
Procurement.travel, Management.travel and The Transnational.
ProMedia.travel serves the global corporate travel
management with on-line subscription information products, e-newsletters,
websites, research, custom marketing, print, face-to-face events, and social
media. The acquisition of ProMedia strengthens Northstar's position in the
corporate travel management market, where it currently owns the
category-leading publishing brand, Business
Travel News.
ProMedia.travel was founded in 2006 by longtime corporate
travel media executives Tim Reid, Jay Campbell, David Jonas, Louis Magliaro and
Mary Ann McNulty to offer digital media and information services to the
business travel market. The entire ProMedia.travel team will be joining
Northstar Travel Media.
Northstar Travel Media serves the retail travel, meetings
and conventions, corporate travel management and incentive markets with
leadership brands including Travel
Weekly, TravelAge West, Meetings & Conventions, Successful Meetings,
MeetingNews and Incentive;
database-driven electronic publications Hotel
& Travel Index, Official Cruise Guide and M&C Facilities Search; and online subscription services Weissmann Reports, Intelliguide Corporate,
BTP24 and Star Service Online.
"The addition of ProMedia greatly enhances our
competitive leadership positions in the corporate travel market," said Thomas
Kemp, chairman and CEO of Northstar Travel Media. "We're very pleased to
merge the successful digital information and media services of ProMedia.travel
with Business Travel News to form the
leading group of media and information products serving the growing $900
billion global corporate travel industry."
"The ProMedia.travel team is very excited about this
merger," said Tim Reid, ProMedia.travel president and CEO. "We look
forward to leveraging the resources and breadth that NTM brings to bear in the
fast-changing world of B-to-B publishing."
Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Reid will lead the Northstar Travel Media commercial travel
group and Campbell will head up editorial operations. The division will be
known as The BTN Group.
This is the third acquisition that Northstar has announced
this year. In January, the company announced the acquisition of the Home Based
Travel Agent trade shows and the launch of Travel Weekly's CruiseWorld 2010 and
LeisureWorld 2010 trade shows. In March, the company acquired the Nielsen
Business Media Travel Group brands Business
Travel News, Successful Meetings, Incentive and MeetingNews.
"We are actively investing in our core markets through
organic initiatives and strategic acquisitions that offer our customers a
broader range of information and marketing channels," said Kemp. "We
are taking advantage of a weak economy to strengthen our competitive positions
because we're bullish about our core markets, our brands and our leadership
teams," he said.
