ARC on Thursday
reported that mega agency transactions in July grew nearly 10 percent year over
year, far surpassing the roughly 3 percent growth rate for all ARC-accredited
agencies and once again showing relative strength in corporate travel compared
with other segments.
Year-over-year growth,
however, slowed in July, as mega agency transactions grew by more than 14
percent and total agency transactions grew by 5 percent in June. Online
agencies continue to lag all other segments, posting a July growth rate of just more than 1 percent.
Meanwhile, the rate
of sales growth continues to surpass that of transactions, suggesting continued
strength in airfares. Year-over-year total travel agency sales last month grew
more than 14 percent.
