The National Transportation Safety Board has confirmed one fatality after a Southwest Airlines flight from New York's LaGuardia to Dallas made an emergency landing in Philadelphia due to an engine failure today. This marks the first fatality by a commercial airline accident on U.S. soil since an Asiana Airlines plane crashed while landing in San Francisco in 2013. It's also the first fatality involving a U.S. airline since a Colgan Air flight crashed en route to Buffalo in February 2009. The NTSB, which is investigating the accident, did not release further details about the fatality on Tuesday afternoon.
