The consolidated dollar value of airline ticket sales sold
by U.S. travel agencies rose 7.7 percent year over year in February to $8.1
billion, according to Airlines Reporting Corp. The average U.S. round-trip
ticket for February 2018 was $484, up $26 from January. Average ticket prices
for February 2018 were down 1 percent year over year. The number of passengers
increased 4.6 percent to 24 million. In addition, sales of Electronic
Miscellaneous Documents, such as upgraded seats and checked luggage, decreased
4.8 percent to $6.5 million. EMD transactions decreased 7 percent to 112,919.
