Flight Centre has made traveler assistance
chatbot Sam available to clients of two of its travel agency brands: Corporate
Traveller, which focuses on small and midsize enterprises, and Campus Travel. Another
Flight Centre brand, travel management company FCM, launched Sam,
short for Smart Assistant Mobile, 10
months ago and has just released version 2.0. The update adds departure
gates, baggage claim information and emergency contact info, as 911 is not
always the appropriate resource. Other new destination-specific components
include more than 60 city guides with maps; information on transportation
modes; and tips for tipping and finding public Wi-Fi. Sam also now offers
medical resources, restaurants, attractions and the difference in the price for
certain goods at home at the traveler's destination. To complement the Apple app,
Sam is now available on Android devices, as well.
