WestJet's revenue increased 11.1 percent year
over year in the second quarter to C$1.1 billion. Traffic increased 8.9 percent
as WestJet increased capacity 6.3 percent, pushing its load factor up 2
percentage points to 82.8 percent. The carrier attributed that growth to strong
performance on its London Gatwick routes. Yield was up 2.1 percent year over
year. WestJet reported earnings of C$48.4 million, up from $C36.7 million in
the second quarter of 2016.
