International Airlines Group passenger revenue increased 3.8 percent year over year in the second quarter to 5.52 billion euros. Traffic rose 7.6 percent as capacity increased 5.8 percent, pushing load factor up 1.4 percentage points to 84 percent. IAG CEO Willie Walsh said the first half of the year has shown "a strong performance in both unit revenue and costs," though air traffic control strikes in France have caused about 20 million euros in costs to its low-cost carrier Vueling. IAG reported a post-tax profit of 614 million euros for the quarter, up from 550 million euros in the second quarter of 2017.
