Choice Hotels International experienced year-over-year gains
in both occupancy and average daily rate during the second quarter. Occupancy
rose 60 basis points to 61.1 percent and ADR increased 1.7 percent to $82.16.
Incoming CEO and current president and COO Pat Pacious led the company's
earnings call, marking a passing
of the torch from outgoing CEO Stephen Joyce, who will retire on Jan. 1.
Choice's total systemwide portfolio as of June 30 totaled 520,224 rooms across 6,553 properties, a 1.9
percent increase over the prior year. Net income rose 16 percent year over year
to $45 million.
