Choice Hotels International reported year-over-year gains in
both average daily rate and occupancy during the first quarter. ADR rose 2.5
percent to $76.86, and occupancy increased 50 basis points to 58 percent. The
company executed 122 domestic franchise agreements during the first quarter, a
15 percent year-over-year increase. Choice signed 31 new franchise agreements
for the WoodSpring
Suites brand, which it acquired in February. As of March 31, the company's
domestic pipeline totaled 914 hotels. Net income increased 3.4 percent year
over year to $25.1 million.
