Avis Budget Group revenue increased 4 percent year over year
in the second quarter to $2.33 billion. Commercial rental volume decreased 1
percent year over year, as large commercial account volume declined; business
with small and midsize enterprises, as well as international inbound business,
increased, however, according to interim CFO Martyn Smith. Overall, rental days
increased 3 percent year over in the Americas and 7 percent year over year
outside the Americas. Revenue per rental day dipped 1 percent in the Americas
and 2 percent internationally. The company reported a net income up $26 million
for the quarter, up from $3 million in the second quarter of 2017.
